Friends of Laurelwood Park is looking for community volunteers to help with an Invasive Species Plant Pull in Laurelwood Park to remove Common Buckthorn. Our park is badly infested with this noxious, highly invasive woody species that is harmful to people, wildlife, and overall biodiversity. The event will be on Saturday September 19th, 10:00am-12:00pm, starting at the playground facing Gatestone Blvd. We will be supported by City of Waterloo staff, no experience is required and all equipment will be provided. Wearing long sleeved shirts, pants, and closed-toes shoes would be best to protect your body from scratches. Please RSVP on our event page or email.
